Minister of State for Investment and Technology, Adel Afiouni, paid a working visit to Switzerland during which he met with Swiss Minister of State for Economic Affairs Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen and Minister of State for Preparation, Research and Innovation Martina Hirayama, in the presence of Swiss Ambassador to Lebanon Monica Schmitz Kirgoz.
The meeting touched on ways of promoting economic cooperation between Lebanon and Switzerland and encouraging Swiss companies to invest in Lebanon and make it a regional platform for Swiss investment.
Afiouni also held a meeting with the Secretary-General of UNCTAD, Mukhisa Kituyi, on the promotion of foreign direct investment in Lebanon and the reforms undertaken by the Government of Lebanon in cooperation with UNCTAD to promote such investments.
The Minister then met with a group of Lebanese students who expressed their interest in what is happening in the technology sector in Lebanon. Afiouni encouraged them to take initiatives and put their knowledge and experience in the service of economic and technological cooperation between Lebanon and Switzerland to support emerging companies and create jobs for young people.
