The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) has awarded the construction of a new highway linking Mouhammara to Koueikhat in Akkar.
Al Bonian Group will be in charge of constructing the 15-kilometer road, at a cost of $56 million, according to Elie Helou, project manager at the CDR.
The government will fund the highway, which is part of the North Coastal Highway.
The highway will include two lanes northbound, two lanes southbound, and two service roads. A number of bridges and underpasses will also be developed.
The CDR is currently finishing up expropriation of the required plots.
