Ashghal said today that the total value of projects to be implemented during the current year will be about QR21.8 billion and will include infrastructure projects, roads and green spaces, land plots and housing units for citizens and the development of intersections.
President of Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Dr. Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi reviewed the most important projects that were completed during 2017 during his visit and compared them with the achievements of the previous four years. He also discussed the authority's future projects.
He added that the Authority provided infrastructure services for 13,279 residential plots for citizens during the past year compared to 5,529 during the previous four years, a three-fold increase. There were also services done on 1829 new plots of citizens' lands, and 987 kilometers of bicycle and pedestrian paths paved.
This came during the visit of the authority to Lekhwiya in the presence of Deputy Commander of Lekhwiya Brig Gen Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al-Thani and a number of directors, group leaders and their assistants, and a number of ranking officers.
Al-Mohannadi added that in the field of sanitation, 306 kilometers were built, which is six times more than in the previous four years. As for roads, 250 kilometers were built during the last year, three times higher than the previous four years. He noted that there was also the completion of 242 kilometers of bicycle tracks and pedestrians, compared to 111 kilometers during the previous four years. He stressed that the new roads helped reduce traffic congestion compared to previous years.
The President of Public Works Authority expressed his appreciation of Lekhwiya's efforts in supporting the work, and for being a major partner in all the projects implemented by the Authority.
