According to the latest statistics released by the Hariri International Airport, the number of passengers at the airport increased by 7.2% year-on-year in the first two months of 2013. In total, 867,940 passengers used the Hariri International Airport during the first two months of 2013, broken down over 393,510 arriving passengers, 471,709 million departing passengers and 2,721 transiting ones. The arriving passengers rose by 5.9% over the said period while the departing passengers increased by 10.4%. Transit passengers were down by 74.2% in the first two months of 2013 relative to the same period of 2012.
Airline activity witnessed a decline in the first two months of 2013 relative to the same period of 2012. Aircraft traffic at the airport saw a yearly drop of 5.6% to 9,200 planes, broken down over 4,603 arriving planes and 4,597 departing planes. The former were annually lower by 5.6% and the latter by 5.5% over the aforesaid period of 2013.
As to freight movement within the airport, a total of 7,074 thousands tons were imported and unloaded during the first two months of 2013 while 6,276 were loaded and exported. The first mentioned activity posted a yearly increase of 12.8% whereas the latter dropped by 35.5%.
