Development is accelerating at Sultan Haitham City (SHC), one of Oman’s flagship urban projects under Oman Vision 2040, with construction now underway in three major neighborhoods.
The construction phase began in Al Wafa neighborhood last year, while work has recently commenced in January Housing and Al Sarooj Oasis. Al Naha is next in line, with construction expected to start in the second quarter of 2025, and work across the remaining neighborhoods is scheduled to begin progressively throughout the year. Infrastructure development and site preparations are being launched in accordance with the project timeline.
Jamal bin Nasser al Hadi, Media Adviser to the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, stated:
“This year marks significant progress for Sultan Haitham City. Several agreements have been signed with local and international investors, highlighting growing confidence in the city’s investment environment and its strategic importance within Oman Vision 2040.”
He emphasized that urban planning today goes beyond organizing space—it is a strategic driver of quality of life, sustainability, and economic diversification. Authorities are working to establish an integrated system that enhances infrastructure, simplifies procedures, and fosters a dynamic investment climate.
Construction efforts are now in full swing. In early 2025, multiple development partners began on-site work across the designated neighborhoods. These efforts are being supported by the Executive Office for Future Projects, which is addressing coordination and technical challenges while ensuring that investors and developers operate in an optimal environment.
Meanwhile, the investment attraction team continues to facilitate access for investors, helping diversify projects and drive forward development. More agreements are expected to be signed later this year as part of a broader roadmap to shape Sultan Haitham City into a model for future smart urban communities in Oman.
Eng. Nasser al Hadrami, Executive Director of Future Projects at the Ministry, added:
“Sultan Haitham City has entered a critical phase of execution. A number of real estate developers are now on the ground, transforming planning into reality. This is a major milestone in the shift from vision to implementation.”
With strategic planning, investor momentum, and phased execution underway, Sultan Haitham City is on course to become a leading example of integrated urban living in the region.
