H.E. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, the President of the 2012 United Nations Climate Change Conference, along with his team, held a bilateral meeting on Sunday with Christiana Figueres, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and her team.
The meeting came at the end of the first week of COP18/CMP8 Doha. The conference brings together about 17,000 participants from 194 nations to try to make progress with the vital issue of global climate change.
H.E. Al-Atttiyah has described climate change as “a common challenge for humanity”. He said that the Conference was a “golden opportunity – we must make best use of it”.
Today, the Conference, which is being held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, begins its final week, which will be attended by high-level participants from around the world.
