South Korea's Daewoo Engineering & Construction has been chosen to build an 8.5-km stretch of the E-Ring multi-lane highway in Qatar in a contract worth $730 million.
Daewoo said it had received the letter of award from Public Works Authority (Ashghal) for the project.
The project consists of extending the existing highway located about 15 km south of Doha by 4.5 km and constructing an additional 4km road of 8 to 14 lanes in both directions and three multi-level intersections. It will be solely managed by Daewoo E&C and completed in 42 months from the start of construction, reports in the Korean press said.
The company has so far won a total of five projects worth $3 billion in Qatar after entering the market in 2005.
