Salon Culinaire is a unique opportunity for chefs, hospitality and catering companies
Another contest in the public eye during DIYAFA is the perennial favorite, Salon Culinaire – a unique opportunity for chefs, hospitality and catering companies, as well as food suppliers to showcase their skills and explore new partnerships in a fun-filled action-packed setting. The 2012 edition has attracted more chefs than ever before, and the first full day of competition yielded a wide selection of winners who showcase amazing skills to be highlighted as one of Qatar’s best.
The L’Wzaar Seafood Market at Katara Cultural Village grabbed an impressive array of prizes on Day 1 of the competition, with its chefs and professionals winning recognition across four categories – Bread, Terrine/Pâté, Hors d'oeuvre, Live Vegetable & Fruit Carving, and Live Signature Dish.
It’s the country’s only culinary competition, and the type of contestants and talent on display has added credibility to the competition
Salon Culinaire forms an important aspect of DIYAFA- a showcase and platform for locally-based talent. Sarah Mroueh, Lead Project Manager at DIYAFA, notes, “This year’s entries are competitive, and it is clear to see that the chefs have put in many hours to prepare themselves. It’s the country’s only culinary competition, and the type of contestants and talent on display has added credibility to the competition, thus resulting in higher-profile contestants.”
“Salon Culinaire is designed to showcase the best talent in Qatar. The competition goes hand in hand with our Boecker training courses and the Red Bull Bartenders Academy- both of which improve the skills of locally-based professionals.”
In an effort to train bartenders to the highest quality standards, the Red Bull Bartenders Academy features interactive sessions
The Red Bull Bartenders Academy is once again expected to draw a large crowd- with two of the world’s best bartenders Kiko & Tom working with local professionals to improve their skills. In an effort to train bartenders to the highest quality standards, the Red Bull Bartenders Academy features interactive sessions with thrilling tricks and hands-on training. With a lot of skill and talent being showcased in public, the setting is a perfect backdrop to the business at hand- forging new business leads in one of the hottest hospitality markets in the world.

The last day of DIYAFA 2012, will feature the Spa Concept Conference, being held for the first time amidst a market that is consistently showing strong growth rates within the industry. The Spa Concept tackles hot issues while providing a stage for experts to share their opinions, ideas, and sometimes very different perspectives
Raquel Calleja, the international spa consultant orchestrating the first-ever such conference in Qatar, is excited at the prospect of opening horizons for the delegates. She says, “Regardless if someone is deep within the spa industry, if they are just looking into it, or whether they work in a related service industry, this one-day conference should be their destination. Topics include new media marketing techniques and age-old questions about wellness and care. The Spa Concept tackles hot issues while providing a stage for experts to share their opinions, ideas, and sometimes very different perspectives. It’s a must-attend event, and I am so happy to be organizing it for Qatar.”
With local, regional and international exhibitors gathered under one roof, the exhibition attracted on Day 1 and Day 2 hundreds of visitors that explored the latest products and services on display.
