Doha Metro works are advancing as planned to achieve the target date for starting the first phase that involves three lines running by October 2019.
During a corporate strategy meeting, attended by all Qatar Rail employees, the Qatar Rail leadership team discussed the company’s performance targets and a wide range of strategic initiatives it plans to undertake over the next 18 months.
Managing director and chairman of the Executive Committee, Qatar Rail, Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Subaie, said: “Since its inception, Qatar Rail has focused on delivering an extremely large and complex rail program. We know that this is not a low-risk strategy, however we have been blessed with the resources that allow us to undertake a program of this scale as part of our national vision 2030 and to set high objectives for ourselves”.
Qatar Rail’s aim is to provide a comfortable and environmentally friendly alternative transport; savings travel time; reducing congestion and road traffic; reducing traffic accidents; reducing pollution and offering improved connectivity.
“We will achieve our goals through implementing effective project controls and governance, strong performance management, efficient and effective asset life cycle management and a discipline that promote organization-wide culture of commitment and accountability,” said Al Subaie.
