Egypt has announced plans to develop the New Garden City, a community neighborhood
development located at New Administrative Capital (NAC) in the heart of Cairo at an investment of over E£80 billion ($5.6 billion).
The project, which will be developed in three phases, will boast more than 23,000 housing units (each with spaces ranging between 60 to 200 sq m), reported Daily News Egypt.
Located 45km east of Cairo, the New Capital is part of the Egyptian government’s plan to expand urban areas to deal with the country’s rapid population growth and improve the nation’s infrastructure.
Spread over a sprawling 4.1 million sq m area, the New Garden City will house several villas, luxury houses and a five-star hotel besides other educational, sports, commercial, entertainment, and medical facilities.
The original neighborhood of Garden City – located in the heart of Cairo – houses elite families and foreigners as well as foreign embassies, such as the US, Britain, and Italy in addition to upscale hotels and restaurants.
As for the New Garden City, the neighborhood will be developed in three phases and will include a five-star hotel, villas, luxury houses, and other educational, sports, commercial, entertainment, and medical facilities.
