Egypt’s food industry exports reached approximately $5.5 billion from January to November 2024, marking a 17% increase compared to $4.7 billion during the same period in 2023, according to the Export Council for Food Industries. This illustrates an additional $813 million in export value and the highest growth rate ever recorded during this timeframe.
Exports for the first 11 months of 2024 exceeded the total for all of 2023, which stood at $5.06 billion, an increase of $474 million.
Arab countries remained Egypt’s largest export market, accounting for $2.936 billion or 53% of total food exports, with a 15% growth rate. The EU followed with $1.083 billion in exports, representing 20% of the total and achieving a 33% growth rate.
Non-Arab African countries contributed $464 million, or 8% of total exports, reflecting 7% growth. Exports to the US totaled $302 million, making up 5% of the total and growing by 40%. Other international markets accounted for $756 million, or 14% of total exports, with an 8% growth rate.
Over the past decade, from 2014 to November 2024, Egypt’s food industry exports accumulated to $40.5 billion, underscoring the sector’s significance in global markets and its role in the country’s economic growth.
