IFP Iraq (International Fairs & Promotions) held a press conference at Erbil Rotana Hotel and announced the launching of Erbil International Fair 2014, the 10th edition of the International Multi-sector Trade Fair that is held between the 9 and 11 December 2014 at the Erbil International Fair Ground.
The representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Electricity and Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction in Kurdistan Regional Government were in the lead of the press conference participants along with the representative of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the region, and the General Supervisor of Erbil International Fair, Mr. Abdallah Abdul Rahman. The organizing company (IFP) was represented by Mr. Fady Darwiche, General Manager of IFP Iraq. The conference was attended by a crowd of officials, diplomats, and businessmen, amid a significant follow-up by different media.
Mr. Darwiche gave a speech in which he stressed that "the decision to hold the exhibition this year, despite the unfortunate circumstances in Iraq was to ensure the stability and to insist on the progress of the economic development in the Kurdistan region, especially that the Erbil International Fair has become an essential annual event attracting international companies which look forward to be part of the various planned and ongoing projects in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq pointing out that this decision was supported by the Kurdistan Regional Government, and Darwiche in compliance with the management of the Erbil International Fair Ground.” Darwiche pointed out that the decision to organize the fair received encouraging international response and actually Germany, France, Greece, Japan, Iran, and others countries are participating in the show.
Celebrating its 10th edition, Erbil International Fair will honor dignitaries, companies and countries that supported the show during the past years. Yet, on this occasion, honorary shields will be delivered to consuls, commercial attaches and the heads of trade delegations of the participating countries, during a special gala dinner to be held on Tuesday, 9 December at Erbil Rotana Hotel.
Since its inception 10 years ago, the Erbil International Fair recorded success stories year after year, and the show grew exponentially at all levels, to lead all international exhibitions taking place in the Kurdistan Region. The EIF plays a remarkable role in creating business and investment opportunities for local and international traders, in addition to promoting trade relations between Iraq and many countries around the world through the city of Erbil, the world's commercial gateway to Iraq. The advantage of the show is its diversity and variety of the exhibits ranging from electronic products and services, home furnishings, upholstery, stationery, toys and fashion jewelry, to telecommunications and IT, electronic systems, as well as tourism and real estate services and other economic sectors.
This year, the importance of the show is further stressed due to additional exhibitions held concurrently with Erbil International Fair including the 7th edition Project Iraq, the 4th edition Energy Iraq and the 7th edition of Iraq Agrofood. Darwiche described this move as an expression of confidence on behalf of the organizing company in the potentials of the Kurdistan Region and its economic development.
