Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Tarek Qabil officially inaugurated the 2nd edition of Food Africa exhibition on Wednesday 4 May at the Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Center. The exhibition runs until 7 May 2016.
Organized by IFP Egypt in cooperation with Konzept Exhibitions & Event Management, Food Africa 2016 is considered the largest specialized exhibition of food and agricultural crops in Africa. Spanned on 10,000 sqm of exhibition space, the show presented 240 companies from 25 countries, including local, Arab, European, and African companies producing food and agricultural crops, marking an increase of 40 companies compared to last year. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, an official mission from Algeria, companies from Erbil and Basra, Kenya, Tanzania and Sudan are among the participating exhibitors.
Food Africa also hosted more than 400 buyers from several European and African countries especially invited by the organizing company IFP within the Hosted Buyers Program.
The Food Africa exhibition for the first time also included the concurrent MAC FRUIT ATTRACTION show. The show was the result of the collaboration of two of the world’s major exhibition operators, IFEMA and CESENA FIERA. The Spanish and Italian organizers cooperated to create a new global brand for the fruit and vegetable sector with the aim of developing professional events in strategic markets, like Egypt’s emerging fresh produce industry.
On behalf of the organizers, Dalia Kabil said that the increase in numbers of local and international participating companies and countries confirm the great prestige that Food Africa exhibition has gained among the international food and agriculture trade shows, which are held in Africa.
