Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Tarek Qabeel, and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Dr. Ali Meselhi officially inaugurated the 3rd edition of Africa Food exhibition and the co-located Africa Food Manufacturing fair on Saturday 22 April at the Cairo International Conference Center.
Concurrently with Food Africa is also held Mac Fruit Attraction Mena, a unique platform providing international fruit and vegetable firms direct access to new strategic markets.
Food Africa 2017 is organized by IFP Egypt in collaboration with Konzept Exhibitions & Event Management.
Featuring an extensive three-day showcase that covers all the sectors of the food industry, Food Africa – Cairo spans over an area of 17,000 square meters with the participation of more than 500 companies from 34 countries including Egypt’s largest manufacturers of food and food processing technology and packaging.
After cutting the ribbon, Minister Qabeel announced that the Egyptian-African relations are top priorities of the Egyptian government, underlining the political and economic importance of the African countries and emphasizing Egypt’s role as one of the pivotal countries in the African continent.
He added: "The exhibition represents a great opportunity and a real launchpad for marketing Egyptian products in the African continent and contributes to the expansion of the scope of trade between the different countries in the African continent. Yet, the 85% increase in local and international participation to the show compared to last year’s edition reflects the interest of Egyptian and international companies in the African market as an emerging and one of the most promising markets.”
The Minister added that this year's exhibition includes more than 200 international companies representing 34 countries, including Spain, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, India, Italy, Poland, France, China and Greece. The exhibition also includes a Hosted International Buyers Program of more than 500 international buyers invited from Africa, Arab countries, Eastern Europe and the Far East.
He also stressed the importance of the co-located Africa Food Manufacturing fair organized by Informa and titled "Smart Manufacturing" hosting more than 250 leading companies in the fields of packaging and food processing in Egypt and North Africa.
It is worth mentioning that the third edition of Food Africa was organized with the 6th edition of the Africa Food Manufacturing exhibition under one roof and at the same time to form the largest gathering of food industries in Egypt covering six main sectors, food industries, agricultural crops, fish products, food processing technology and packaging.
Over just three days, exhibitors will get the chance to meet face to face with thousands of wholesalers, distributors, retailers and other industry professionals, and develop partnerships which will see their products stocked in shops and supermarkets all over Egypt, and the greater African market.
