In the near future foreigners will invest $3 billion in Iran for building solar power plants, Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said.
Soon 5,000 megawatts of renewable energy power plants will be established across the country, the minister said, ISNA news agency reported February 4.
He said the new 5,000 megawatts of power will be mostly derived from wind and solar energy. Chitchian was making the statements as he inaugurated two 7-megawatt solar plants in Hamadan Province, western Iran.
He said companies from Germany and Ireland jointly invested in the power plants.
The Minister added in a few weeks a 10-megawatt power plant will go on stream in Isfahan Province.
