Muscat Securities Market-listed (MSM) Omani contracting giant Galfar Engineering and Contracting has won a $2.3m (OMRm) civil works for a tank foundation project under sub-package A of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) Package 3 Offsite Facilities at the $7bn (OMR2.69bn) Duqm Refinery.
In a stock market disclosure undersigned by chief executive officer, Dr. Hans Earlings, Galfar said it would provide “all other details later in a complementary disclosure upon satisfying the conditions and any other requirements”.
According to the missive, Galfar will provide civil works related to tank foundation for four jet fuel A-1 tanks including 842-T-204, 842-T-202, 842-T-203, and 842-T-204 at Duqm Refinery, which is being developed through a partnership between Oman Oil Co and Kuwait Petroleum International.
In September 2019, Galfar had won a subcontract worth $59.9m (OMR23m) from Italy to deliver mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and piping fabrication works for Sub-Packages A and C.
According to information published on the website dedicated to Duqm Refinery, the project is currently 31% complete and over 8,646 workers have been deployed across its EPC packages 1, 2, and 3.
