Firms from around the world are expected to submit bids to build the first stage of Abu Dhabi's eagerly awaited metro and light rail network.
National news agency WAM said companies believed to be interested include German giant Siemens, US-based Bechtel and South Korea's Samsung Engineering.
The successful bidder for the 36km scheme will be announced in March 2014, with construction to start soon after, WAM quoted UAE media as saying.
