Adnan al-Tamimi, head of Muqdadiya’s local council in Diyala Governorate, announced the launch of the largest and first investment tourism project in the district, adding that this is the first tourism investment in the district and is done according to license granted by Iraq's Investment Commission with a capital exceeding $1 million.
Giving details of the project, al-Tamimi said the project consists of major touristic games city to be implemented on an area of more than 15 dunums, and will be completed in two and a half years. Al Tamimi added that this games city will be complemented with several swimming pools, 4 major halls dedicated for events in addition to the construction of centers and shops surrounding it, indicating that it is the largest investment tourism project in the district and the first of its kind in the governorate designed according to modern standards.
It is expected that this project will have significant positive effects on Muqdadiya district in general. Muqdadiya is a city located about 80 km northeast of Baghdad and 30 km northeast of Baquba, the capital of Diyala. It has a population of about 298,000 inhabitants.
