Under the High Patronage of His Excellency, the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Michel AOUN, the 10th edition of Beirut Boat 2017 was officially inaugurated today at Beirut Marina, by the Minister of Tourism, H.E Avedis Guidanian, on behalf of H.E the President, in the presence of VIP delegates and members of the diplomatic community.
Among the dignitaries attending the opening ceremony were the ambassadors of Germany, Netherlands, Iraq, and Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Martin Huth, H.E. Mr. Han-Maurits Schaapveld, H.E. Dr. Ali Al Ameri, and H.E. Mr. Aftab Ahmad Khokher, respectively. Also present at the inauguration were Mr. Ibrahim El Chehhi, on behalf of H.E. Mr. Hamad bin Saeed Al-Shamsi, the ambassador of UAE, Deputy Ammar Houry, representing Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Mr. Maher Baydoun, Vice Chairman of Solidere, Mrs. Rima El Murr, representing General Raymond Khattar, Head of Civil Defense, Mr. Abdallah Richa, representing the Deputy Mr. Sami El Gemayel, and Mr. Silvio Chiha, the Brand Ambassador of Beirut Boat.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Edward Aoun, a member of the board of directors of IFP Group, said: “With ten successful editions, Beirut Boat has created a legacy for delivering Lebanon’s top-notch yachting and luxury experience for a crowd of thousands of maritime enthusiasts, elite society figures, lifestyle gurus, and VIPs.
The show is the highlight of the season and has become the ultimate glamour, yachting, and recreation destination, reaffirming Lebanon’s position as the Middle Eastern hub for luxury, yachting and high-end lifestyle.”
Mr. Aoun spoke about the features of Beirut Boat and revealed the new additions to this year’s edition: “The show encompasses an exquisite display of yachts lined up along the pier, boating gear and related equipment, outdoor furniture, sports equipment, a luxury car, and high-end products.
“Beirut Boat 2017 is also extending its sophisticated theme to include fine arts. This year the show presents you, for the first time, ‘The Art Gallery’ that pays homage to Lebanese artists, featuring paintings, sculptures, and other works of art, as well as home décor among other exhibits.”
“I’m pleased to announce yet another exciting feature debuting at this year’s show; The ‘Maritime Historical Exhibition.’ It will take our guests and visitors on a historical journey to discover the wreckage of the renowned HMS Victoria,” he continued.
On his part, Mr. Chiha said: “I am pleased and honored to be Beirut Boat’s Brand Ambassador, especially that I am very passionate about boating and work in this industry. I believe this event is very important for Lebanon, and I encourage organizing it each year as it sheds lights on the role of Lebanon in the region, and helps with the goal of attracting the largest number possible of tourists, and reviving the tourism industry and the economy as large.”
Beirut Boat 2017 will be running from May 20 till 24, from 5 till 10 pm, at the luxurious Beirut Marina – Beirut Central District (BCD).
