The International Hospitals Group (IHG) has won a contract to develop three hospitals in Oman’s Khasab, Salalah and Suwaiq as part of its plans to expand its business overseas.
According to The Times of Oman, the contract comprises the design, construction of all three hospitals in the Sultanate, and will be financially backed by the UK Export Finance through a $654.3m loan.
The contract will also include the development of emergency power systems, maintenance facilities, and roads.
The British credit agency, UK Export Finance, provides funding to companies that oversee international projects.
The International Trade Secretary for the UK, Liz Truss, reportedly said: “The size of this contract demonstrates the appetite for the UK’s world-leading healthcare expertise across the globe. I am delighted UK Export Finance is supporting the construction of these three hospitals which will not only improve healthcare provision in Oman but will also expand International Hospital Groups’ overseas business.”
