The European Union’s trade with Iran amounted to €5.3 billion in the first quarter of 2017, a 165 percent rise from €2 billion in the first quarter of 2016, based on the latest figures released by the European Union’s statistics agency Eurostat.
The EU’s exports to Iran stood at €2.53 billion during January-March this year, indicating 57-percent growth from €1.604 billion in the same time span last year.
Iran’s exports to the EU amounted to €2.77 billion in the said time, with seven-fold rise from €396 million in the same period in the preceding year.
After the lifting of sanctions against the country in January 2016, Iran’s been trying to regain its traditional European clients.
