Iran and Syria have signed a contract in the field of electricity industry worth $1.2 billion to restore power plants and produce electricity in Syria.
The Syrian electricity minister Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli said, “Considering the capabilities of Iran in the electricity industry, Tehran and Damascus have signed the $1.2 billion contract to produce electricity in Syria.
Stressing that the Iranian companies have high technology in the field of electricity, the Syrian minister added, “The civil war has caused the destruction of Syria's infrastructure and more than 50% of the country's electricity systems have been destroyed but Damascus is trying to restore them with the help of Russia and Iran”.
