Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired a special meeting to review ongoing and planned development projects in Al-Kadhimiya, focusing on infrastructure, public services, and urban improvements.
The session evaluated completed service projects and ongoing initiatives, including the construction of 38 new school buildings and the renovation of numerous existing schools. Discussions also covered reconstruction plans, the relocation of government offices outside the city in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives, and progress on key projects such as parks, sewer systems, recreational spaces, and bridges—many of which are nearing completion.
The meeting also reviewed measures to open the military zone in the Shu’ba Al-Khamisa area, following a decision by the Council of Ministers.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani underscored the significance of Al-Kadhimiya’s reconstruction, highlighting its role as a major religious and tourism hub that welcomes millions of pilgrims each year. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development efforts, ensuring that Al-Kadhimiya remains a priority within Baghdad’s broader service and infrastructure strategy to promote balanced urban growth.
