Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani announced that the government has earmarked 12 trillion dinars ($9.16 billion) for service projects across ministries and provinces in 2024, according to Shafaq News.
Speaking at the Internal Oversight Conference hosted by the Federal Board of Supreme Audit, Al-Sudani emphasized that increased public investment in service projects has strengthened trust in the state and reinforced confidence in Iraq’s progress.
He also highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance financial oversight and accountability, noting that internal audit departments have been upgraded to general directorates to bolster their role in combating corruption.
Beyond ensuring the efficient allocation of public funds, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to extraditing fugitives and recovering stolen assets, making these initiatives a key priority in the country’s international engagements.
