Iraq’s Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhil, recently held discussions with Saudi representatives regarding the Najaf Solar Power Plant project and advanced fuel processing technologies for power stations.
According to a statement from the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Minister Fadhil met with Khaled Al-Hedhal, a representative of the Saudi Investment Authority, alongside officials from the Solutions Oil Services Company.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in the electric power sector between Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Minister Fadhil emphasized the strong bilateral relations between the two nations.
The statement highlighted a detailed presentation by the oil company representative on advanced fuel processing technologies and waste recycling methods from refining operations in thermal and gas power plants. The possibility of transferring these technologies to Iraq was also explored to improve waste management and optimize power generation.
Additionally, both sides discussed the invitation extended to the Saudi company “ACWA Power” to develop and operate the Najaf Solar Power Plant in the Middle Euphrates region. The plant is expected to have a production capacity of up to 1,000 megawatts, with preparations underway for finalizing the contract with the company.
