Iraq and Turkey signed on Thursday a contract to establish Basmaja station for electric power generation with 3000 megawatts.
The Office of Electricity Minister Qassim al-Fahdawi told the National Iraqi News Agency / Nina / that the contract, which was signed on behalf of the Iraqi side, by Director General of the Group of Holding Companies / MAS / Ahmed Ismail and for the Turkish side, by Director of the company / Enka /, the executing company of the project Sinan Tara, including a joint cooperation to build the Basmaja station for electric power generation.
He added that the signing ceremony took place in Istanbul, in the presence of Minister of Electricity Qassim al-Fahdawi and Chairman of the National Investment Commission Sami al-Araji and Director of the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBA) Hamdiya al-Jaf, and Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz.
He pointed out that "the building of Basmajh station, will be in two phases, each phase with / 1500 / MW, and that the engines of the station will be of US origin.
The Minister of Electricity Qassim al-Fahdawi visited Istanbul for talks with Turkish officials in order to open new horizons of cooperation between the two countries in the field of electric power.
