Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has launched the construction of five new hospitals across several provinces, marking the start of a larger initiative to build 16 hospitals, each with a capacity of 100 beds. This announcement was made in a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The new hospitals are being built in the provinces of Nineveh, Salah Al-Din, Babylon, Karbala, and Dhi Qar. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance Iraq’s healthcare infrastructure and provide better medical services to its citizens.
During the inauguration of the Iraqi-Korean Specialized Hospital in Baghdad’s Medical City in November, Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized the government’s commitment to developing the healthcare sector. He highlighted the importance of partnering with reputable international companies to bring advanced medical expertise and state-of-the-art technology to Iraq.
Al-Sudani also stressed the critical role of specialized medical centers in improving healthcare services and reiterated the government’s focus on implementing comprehensive healthcare coverage across the country.
Iraq’s Minister of Health, Salih Al-Hasnawi, provided an overview of the ministry’s achievements over the past two years, which include the construction of 13 new hospitals, three specialized centers, two burn centers, and 25 kidney treatment centers.
This ambitious healthcare initiative reflects Iraq’s dedication to addressing the needs of its population and building a more robust and accessible healthcare system.
