Roland Westebbe, the Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Iraq, announced that the trade exchange between Iraq and Germany in 2024 has reached approximately 1.7 billion euros.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Westebbe expressed Germany’s interest in expanding trade relations with Iraq in the coming years. He highlighted that Germany’s exports to Iraq have grown by 10 percent over the past four years.
Westebbe emphasized that Iraq has become an emerging market, attracting significant attention from investors and businesses seeking to strengthen trade ties between the two countries. He noted that several German companies are keen to establish a presence in Iraq, with major corporations like Siemens already well-established across various Iraqi industries.
Since the defeat of the terrorist organization ISIS, Germany has played an active role in Iraq’s reconstruction efforts, particularly in the housing sector. Additionally, organizations affiliated with the German Foreign Ministry are eager to launch projects aimed at boosting Iraq’s economy.
