The National Investment Commission (NIC) has officially signed the Task Order for Phase One of the Al-Tayeb Specialised Economic Service Zone, marking the launch of Iraq’s first integrated economic city in Maysan Province.
Key Highlights:
Dr. Haider Mohammed Makiyah, Chairman of the NIC, stated that Al-Tayeb Economic City is set to become a model for multi-sector, service-driven economic hubs across Iraq, designed to attract international investors in agriculture, industry, housing, tourism, and entertainment.
The contract was signed with U.S.-based firm KBR, which will conduct strategic economic studies, investment opportunity packaging, and sectoral planning for the project.
Strategic Goals:
Position Al-Tayeb as a key hub linked to Iraq’s Development Road project.
Stimulate economic growth and job creation in the Maysan region.
Enhance interagency collaboration to ensure efficient and timely implementation.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Governor of Maysan, representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Maysan Investment Commission, and members of Executive Order Committee 24771. Discussions focused on advancing sustainable development and creating a favorable investment environment to support Iraq’s economic transformation.
