H.E. Minister of Health (MoH) of Kurdistan Region of Iraq Rekwat Hama Rasheed opened the 4th International Healthcare Exhibition & Conference Serving Iraq (Iraq Medicare) on Monday 25 May at the Erbil International Fair Grounds. The event is organized by IFP Iraq and it runs till May 27, 2015.
Besides Minister Rasheed, the opening ceremony was also attended by the General Manager of the Erbil International Fair Grounds, Mr. Abdallah Abdel Rahim; the Governor of Erbil Nawzad Hadi, Awamedica’s CEO Prof. Bahram Resul, Chairman of Lebanon’s Syndicate of Dental Laboratories Prof. Alain Sakr, Chairman of Lebanese and Arab Syndicate of Dentists Dr. Elie Azar Maalouf, representatives from KIMADIA, representatives from Baghdad International Fair Ground, in addition to high-ranking Iraqi healthcare sector government officials; representatives of neighboring countries; a host of diplomats and notable figures, journalists and media representatives.
Minister Rasheed delivered a speech on this occasion, saying “The health sector in the Kurdistan region of Iraq is undergoing a major development. The year 2015 witnessed additional initiatives to strengthen the partnership between the Ministry of Health and the private sector to increase the number of hospitals, and the application of electronic systems for healthcare management, as well as introducing a health insurance system," adding that "foreign companies can have major role in hospital management and the health system reform in general. This is why it is important to see this international participation in the exhibition and the MoH supports this event to the highest degree.”
For his part, IFP Iraq General Manager, Fady Darwiche said, “More than a trade fair for equipment and medical supplies, Medicare has become a comprehensive healthcare event covering all commercial, and scientific aspects through continuous development each year, show after show while upgrading the specialized activities during the show.”
Darwish added that "this year's edition includes The 5th Iraqi Dental Reunion Congress and Convention, which is organized by ALAUSUS, an Iraqi company specialized in medical conventions and CAPP Consulting." During the congress will be held 12 seminars and 7 workshops covering new technologies and treatments for teethes and cosmetic dentistry. Last year, the Iraqi Dental Reunion 2014 hosted more than 1,270 dentists. This number would reach 1500 this year.
Medicare – Erbil 2015 showcases a wide selection of healthcare equipment and products as well as various medical services and solutions that among others cater to the needs of hospitals, clinics, specialized centers, and laboratories. Visitors, both specialized and those working in the medical field, will be presented with the opportunity to discover a multitude of sophisticated medical services and technologies, which have entered the Iraqi market for the first time in addition to other related services such as health insurance programs, education and training programs, and much more.
