Iraq is moving forward with plans to develop its first-ever city dedicated to energy services, according to the official Arabic-language daily Alsabah. The initiative, approved by the National Investment Commission (NIC), will be located in the southeastern governorate of Maysan.
NIC spokesperson Hanan Jassim confirmed that the commission has signed an agreement with a U.S. company to identify investment opportunities within the planned city and prepare a comprehensive list of projects for potential investors.
“The city will specialize in providing services related to electricity, oil, gas, communications, and other energy sectors,” Jassim noted, without disclosing additional details.
