Iraq has pledged to contribute to Lebanon’s reconstruction efforts following the destruction caused by the Hezbollah-Israel conflict, according to Sattar Al-Jabri, Iraqi Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce. Al-Jabri made the announcement during a meeting with Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Tuesday, as reported by Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).
“The Iraqi government is dedicated to supporting the Lebanese people by focusing on a specific sector—such as healthcare or education—or by aiding the reconstruction of affected areas to help Lebanon recover,” Al-Jabri stated.
He explained that an Iraqi Cabinet committee will assess the impacted regions and prepare a report for Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani to guide the reconstruction efforts.
Al-Jabri also emphasized Iraq’s active role in Lebanon’s rebuilding process, noting that while other countries may contribute, Iraq is fully committed to participating. He highlighted the substantial aid already provided to Lebanon and reaffirmed the Iraqi government’s continued dedication to assisting the Lebanese people.
