Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani has remotely inaugurated the Al-Dhawari Iron and Steel Factory in Sulaiman Bek, Salah al-Din Governorate, marking a major step forward in Iraq’s industrial growth.
This private sector initiative serves as a model for industrial development, addressing the increasing demand for building materials amid the country’s expanding construction sector.
Key Features of the Factory:
- Annual Design Capacity: 570,000 tons
- Phased Implementation:
- Phase 1: Production of reinforcing steel in various sizes
- Phase 2: Production of multi-purpose steel beams
- Phase 3: Production of steel billets
During the inauguration, Al-Sudani underscored the project’s timely importance, as Iraq currently has over one million housing units under construction through investment licenses, driving the need for locally manufactured materials.
The Prime Minister commended the efforts of local officials and private sector partners in bringing this vital project to life, reaffirming the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.
