Ireland aims to increase the number tourists from Qatar. The launch of daily service by Qatar Airways to Dublin will boost the tourism between both the countries, said senior officials from Ireland yesterday.
“We are concentrating on bringing more visitors form Qatar to Ireland. We look forward to welcoming growing number of Qatari citizens and expatriates living here in the months and years ahead. I also look forward to contributing to building relationship between Qatar rand Ireland,” said the Ambassador-Designate of Ireland to Qatar speaking at an event organised at W Hotel to celebrate the launch of Qatar Airways direct flight from Doha to Dublin.
The national carrier of Qatar had launched direct flight from Doha to the Irish capital in June this year.
There are close to 2,000 Irish people living in Qatar, according to the Ambassador.
“Tourism is a big industry in Ireland which has a population of around 6.5 million people. The country has welcomed 10.6 million visitor so far this year. Tourism is a very important industry in Ireland and employs 10 percent of country’s workforce,” Niall Gibbons, Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Ireland told The Peninsula speaking on sidelines of the event. “There is a good potential of growth for tourism between both countries,” he said. Tourism Ireland is the marketing body responsible for marketing the island of Ireland overseas.
“Since we started the route between Qatar and Ireland, we have seen a lot good potential. We are very pleased with the results out of the performance of the route and it looks promising,” said Ehab Abel Fattah Amin, Chief Commercial Officer at Qatar Airways.
The launch of the new route to Dublin gives passengers easier access to the Middle East, Asia and Australia, with seamless connections to Sydney, Hong Kong, Melbourne and many more attractive destinations. Dublin is a hub for more than 1,000 leading multi-national companies and the daily non-stop service will connect both business and leisure travellers to the airline’s extensive network.
