Jordanian exports to the Iraqi market have seen an acceptable rise this year, increasing by 3.74 percent during the first two months of this year, the official Spokesman of Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply Yannal al-Birmawi said.
Al-Birmawi said in a press statement that according to foreign trade data issued by the Department of Statistics, the value of the Kingdom’s exports to Iraq during the months of January and February of this year amounted to 83 million dollars compared to about 80 million dollars for the same period last year 2018.
He pointed out that the consensuses that took place between Jordan and Iraq during the meeting chaired by the Prime Ministers of both countries on the second of last February, especially regarding facilitating the movement of trucks in both directions and exempting many Jordanian goods exported to the Iraqi market from customs duties, will contribute to increasing the volume of exports and intra-trade. .
Al-Birmawi said that the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply is working within the integrated strategy to activate the movement of national exports to the Iraqi market through follow-up and continuous meetings with Iraqi officials and the organization of sector visits to Iraq to stimulate the private sector in both countries to maximize the benefits of economic consensus between the two sides to serve common interests.
