The government of Lebanon invites expressions of interest from consultants to serve on a Panel of Environmental and Social Experts to oversee construction of Bisri Dam, a water supply dam, and associated infrastructure in Lebanon. Responses are due June 25.
The World Bank recruited consultants in February to perform a study of hydropower development in Lebanon.
The government's Council for Development and Reconstruction now invites expressions of interest to serve on the panel, which will include an environmental specialist, a social specialist and a cultural anthropologist. The panel is to ensure that the project complies with international standards of excellence and safety for water resources infrastructure. Work is to cover pre-construction, five years of construction for the dam, and post-construction operation and maintenance during initial reservoir filling over two years.
Expressions of interest including resumes are by June 25 to the address below. For information, contact President, Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), Tallet Al-Serail, Beirut (Beirut Central District), Lebanon; (961) 1-980096; Fax: (961) 1-981252; E-mail: njisr@cdr.gov.lb.
