India’s top engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said its Power Transmission and Distribution Business unit has won a key contract to build a 380-kV substation in Saudi Arabia along with an associated 230-kV cable network and establishment of two Transmission Line corridors.
Also, L&T has clinched a new order from a major client in the Middle East region for the construction of EHV (extra high voltage) overhead lines.
In addition to the Middle East contracts, the Indian engineering conglomerate has also secured major orders from prestigious clients in the Philippines and also local contracts.
In the Philippines, L&T was awarded the contract to build a 500-kV substation, in association with a prominent local player, that will cater to the growing demand for electricity in the metropolitan area of Manila.
On the domestic front, the business has won an order in the western state of Gujarat for the construction of a 765kV Double Circuit Transmission Line that will help transmit power from renewable energy sources, said the statement from L&T.
It also bagged another order in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh for building a 20MW floater solar power project at a reservoir of NTPC’s Auraiya Gas Power Plant, it added.
