Liquefied natural gas (LNG) has evolved into a cornerstone of energy security and an essential component of the energy transition. With global LNG demand projected to increase by over 50% by 2040, the need for flexible, diversified energy sources has intensified, partly due to geopolitical pressures. LNG offers the adaptability to be transported by ship from key exporters like the U.S. and Qatar, ensuring secure energy access.
The LNG industry, however, faces notable technical demands. Safety and control valves, critical for both liquefaction and regasification processes, must function at temperatures below –162 °C to handle liquefied gas. Additionally, fire-safe valve designs are often required, as evaporated LNG forms an explosive gas. Through advanced materials and specialized designs, the valve sector has created resilient components capable of performing under these conditions. The incorporation of digital technology enhances valve precision and control, thereby optimizing LNG operations.
For insights into the latest advancements in valve technology, VALVE WORLD EXPO will be held from December 3-5, 2024 in Düsseldorf, showcasing sector innovations. Visit their official website for more information.
