Rehabilitation of Iraq’s Mosul Airport is 90% complete, while renovation work on Baghdad’s Ibn Sina Hospital is set to begin soon, according to announcements by two Turkish companies.
Mehmet Sinan Turkan, project manager for Mosul Airport at İnşaat77, told Anadolu Agency that the company took over the project in September 2022 and began clearing debris from the damaged site. “Key structures such as the cargo facility, terminal building, health center, and fire station are now 85-90% complete,” Turkan said.
The company has also made significant progress in paving internal roads and is overseeing electrical infrastructure and runway lighting. “Our goal is to hand over the airport to the people of Mosul as soon as possible,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mustafa Denizli, director of YDA Group’s Iraq branch, which is managing the Ibn Sina Hospital project, announced that the group received the site from the Ministry of Health in January 2024 and has finalized the design phase. “We will begin construction very soon. Although the project duration is set at 1,200 days, we aim to complete it in two years,” he stated.
The hospital, with a capacity of 600 beds and a building area of 120,000 square meters, is expected to meet urgent healthcare needs in Mosul. “Visually, I believe it will be the most beautiful hospital in Iraq,” Denizli added.
