The National Road Safety Strategy Follow-up Committee held a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) part of its meetings with representatives of concerned ministries and entities on the matter.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Head of the Committee Dr. Ibrahim Al Nuaimi said the projects of the Ministry of Transport and Communications is very important to achieving the goals of the National Road Safety Strategy. Al Nuaimi said the committee’s role is to support the ministry to achieve its priorities and address the challenges that may affect the progress of these projects.
The Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Affairs at MoTC Rashid Taleb Al Nabet highlighted the importance of the meeting as it is on the core competencies that the ministry is working to achieve and seeks to preserve the safety of lives and properties, under the National Road Safety Strategy.
He praised the role of the committee in supporting the ministry’s plans and projects related to traffic safety.
The team then reviewed the 29 plans of the ministry, distributed across various departments and timelines. These include the comprehensive plan for pedestrian crossings in the State of Qatar which includes a guide to the pedestrian crossings designs, the initial design of the crossings and the study of pedestrian flows in central Doha.
In addition to the initial design to link Lusail with a highway to facilitate access and to connect it to a multi-road network, keeping up with the pace of the city’s development, as well as many important projects that aim to develop traffic according to the highest international standards.
