The $150bn Qatari infrastructure market is a “big challenge” for companies aiming to secure work in the build-up to country’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, formwork form Acrow has said.
With a vast array of infrastructure projects planned for the country in the coming years, the company said competition in the market is hotting up.
“The Qatari market is a big challenge for all formwork companies, with an expected spending of $150bn on the infrastructure sector over the next eight years before the kick-off of the 2022 World Cup,” the company said in a statement.
“With some of the major projects having been already announced, a lot of formwork companies are trying to establish a strong presence in Qatar while the existing companies are trying to strengthen their presence to be ready for the coming billions of infrastructure projects.”
Acrow is already working on several projects at the Lusail development where it has won orders on CP5B with Samsung C&T , Lusail CP4 with Midmac Yuksel JV, Lusail Expressway with Hyundai E&C. It is also working on Al Muntazah street extension with Al Jaber & Partners, North Road P059 with Tekfen, East Corridor P011 with China Harbour Engineering Co., Al Waab Development, Hilton Tower and the Airport Mall with al Bandary Engineering.
The company added that the demands of delivering Qatar’s raft of projects are considerable.
“One of the biggest challenges faced in Qatar is the tight time schedule and how to provide a cost-effective formwork solution that will accommodate the fast construction schedule,” it said.
Acrow showcased some of its new formwork systems at Project Qatar, where it has been a regular exhibitor for several years.
