The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is addressing the challenge of limited direct flights to Oman as it works toward its goal of welcoming 6 million tourists annually by 2030, with hopes of achieving the target ahead of schedule. This was announced by H.E. Salim al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, during the recent “Oman and the World” international media forum held in Muscat.
Organized by the Ministry of Information, the forum brought together senior Omani officials, including ministers, and media representatives from countries such as India, China, Japan, Turkey, and the UK. The event highlighted Oman’s achievements in tourism and economic growth and coincided with celebrations for Accession Day.
H.E. Mahrouqi emphasized Oman’s diverse attractions and the sector’s strong recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic. “Oman’s stunning beaches, ports, unique landscapes, and adventure tourism opportunities have significantly boosted visitor numbers,” he stated. In 2023, the country welcomed over 4 million tourists, reflecting a robust rebound from the pandemic’s impact.
