The construction of the Wadi Baiha Dam in the Wilayat of Yanqul, located in Al Dhahirah Governorate, has been successfully completed. The project was carried out through a combination of community participation and oversight by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
According to Salem bin Hamid Al Badi, the project supervisor, the dam measures 53 meters in length, 11 meters in height, and has a storage capacity of approximately 33,000 gallons. The dam’s catchment area spans a valley approximately 12 kilometers long.
The construction, which lasted 235 days, involved the use of reinforced concrete, stones, filters, and other materials. Al Badi noted that the project adhered to the highest dam construction standards in the Sultanate, under the supervision of a specialized team from the Dams Department at the Ministry, which oversaw both the design and implementation stages.
In terms of benefits, the dam is expected to supply water to nearby villages, including Bayhaa and Al-Waqba, as well as other surrounding areas, once it fills with rainwater from the flowing valleys.
In addition to its utility function, the dam is located in a scenic area known for its natural beauty. When filled, it is expected to become a popular eco-tourism destination, particularly for adventurers and nature lovers.
