Oman has made considerable advancements in its agriculture and fisheries sectors, with investments totaling $890.669 million, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources. These investments are part of the government’s strategy to enhance food security and promote economic diversification, in line with Vision 2040.
The red meat sector has seen significant progress, highlighted by the launch of two major projects. In North Al Sharqiyah, an investment of $44.2 million aims to achieve an annual production of 30,000 tons of red meat. Meanwhile, a larger project in Muscat, with an investment of $389.6 million, is set to produce 22,000 tons of red meat per year.
In 2023, feed production also attracted considerable investments. In Ibri, Al Dhahirah, $44.2 million was allocated for a feed production facility with an annual output of 150,000 tons. Additionally, in Barka, South Al Batinah, $15.6 million was invested to establish a facility capable of producing 60,000 tons of feed annually.

The fisheries sector also made significant strides. In 2023, the Ministry completed eight assessments of fish storage facilities in important coastal areas, including Al Khaburah, Al Musannah, Al Suwaiq, Saham, Sohar, Liwa, and Shinas. These evaluations are designed to ensure the efficiency and safety of Oman’s fish supply chain, meeting both local and international standards.
Additionally, the Ministry introduced the Acila vessel, a modern fishing boat designed for various operations, including large and small surface fishing and deep-sea activities. This new vessel is anticipated to greatly enhance Oman’s fisheries production capacity and contribute positively to the national economy.
