Oman has opened a tender for the development of the 280-MW Al-Kamil solar project, marking its fourth solar photovoltaic (PV) Independent Power Project (IPP).
Nama Power and Water Procurement (PWP), the sole electricity off-taker from independent power producers in Oman, issued a request for qualification (RFQ) for the project on Tuesday. The invitation is exclusively for developers, excluding EPC contractors, with a submission deadline of February 3.
The solar park will be located in Al-Kamil Wal Wafi, Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate, in northeast Oman.
Currently, Oman’s operational solar capacity is led by the 500-MW Ibri II project. The country is also progressing with the development of two additional solar parks: the 500-MW Manah I and 500-MW Manah II projects.
