The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP), in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police, has initiated a traffic survey to support the detailed planning of the Saham Agricultural City. The survey, which began on November 25 and will run until December 5, aims to collect critical data for designing an efficient transportation network for the new city.
According to MHUP, the survey emphasizes community engagement by inviting public participation to better understand vehicle flow and travel patterns. This data will help identify infrastructure needs and ensure that future urban planning aligns with the demands of residents and commuters.
Surveyors are randomly stopping vehicles to complete questionnaires, with the collected information offering insights into current transportation dynamics. The ministry highlighted that public feedback is essential for developing a transportation system that integrates seamlessly with the city’s infrastructure and supports regional growth.
In addition to urban planning, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is working with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources to establish agricultural cities aimed at promoting sustainability and food security. These projects focus on strategically selecting locations and incorporating advanced technologies such as hydroponics, aeroponics, and aquaculture to enhance local food production and develop sustainable agricultural infrastructure.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to participate in the traffic survey, as their input will play a vital role in shaping the future of Saham Agricultural City and realizing a community-centered vision for the project.
