South Al Sharqiyah Governorate has signed multiple municipal contracts worth $68.37 million (RO26.3 million) during the Investment and Partnership Forum. Organized by the Department of Small and Medium Enterprises Development in collaboration with the Governorate and Sur Industrial City (Madayn), the forum focused on enhancing infrastructure and promoting urban and economic growth across the region’s wilayats.
Held under the patronage of Dr. Yahya bin Badr bin Malik Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, the agreements cover extensive development projects, including the construction of a 149.2 km internal road network in Sur, Al Kamil, Al Wafi, Jalan Bani Bu Hassan, Jalan Bani Bu Ali, and Masirah. These initiatives aim to improve regional connectivity, facilitate movement, and drive urban expansion and economic activity.
Key projects involve upgrading mountain roads in Sur’s Qaab, Abbat, Al Manqal, and Al Jila in Tiwi, alongside rehabilitation of internal routes. The investments reflect the governorate’s dedication to enhancing the road network, addressing community needs, and fostering sustainable development.
Highlighted Developments:
- Al Ashkhara Waterfront – Development of a 74,172 sqm entertainment and sports hub.
- Coastal Road Lighting – Modern lighting installations from Ras Al Hadd to Al Ashkhara to boost night services and safety.
- Al Suwaih Park (Jalan Bani Bu Ali) – A family-oriented destination with tourist facilities, play areas, and camping spaces.
- Saiq Tourist Facility – Expansion of tourism amenities in Al Kamil and Al Wafi.
- Al Shamkhiya Multipurpose Centre (Masirah) – A cultural and social venue.
- Falaj Al Mashaikh Park (Jalan Bani Bu Hassan) – A new park offering recreational services.
Additional initiatives include upgrading Masirah’s street lighting, replacing decorative poles in Sur’s old market area, and designing Al Barr Path – a 1.9 km walkway with sports and leisure facilities.
Commercial and residential contracts were also finalized, including projects at Sur slaughterhouse, Al Barr Park, Al Suwaih Park, and the establishment of a café at Al Ashkhara Park.
Governor Dr. Yahya bin Badr bin Malik Al Maawali emphasized that these projects reflect a commitment to balanced development across all wilayats, enhancing infrastructure and quality of life in South Al Sharqiyah.
