The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPA) has invited select international and national firms to submit bids for consultancy services to craft a detailed master plan for the coastal tourism zone in SEZAD.
Envisioned as a premier destination, the Touristic Coastal Zone will blend natural beauty with modern amenities, fostering tourism, leisure, and recreation. The project aims to create a vibrant, sustainable coastal community that caters to both visitors and residents with diverse experiences.
The master plan will incorporate various land uses and facilities, including resorts, hospitality venues, private chalets, mixed-use developments, commercial hubs, recreational areas, beachfront activities, and a scenic promenade.
Duqm, located in Al Wusta governorate along the Arabian Sea, sits between Muscat and Salalah, offering opportunities for marine activities, wildlife exploration, and desert camping.
Among Duqm’s notable attractions is the Rock Garden, a key geological site and natural landmark. Spanning approximately 6 square kilometers, the garden features unique sandstone and limestone formations sculpted by wind, water, and ice over millions of years.
These fragile limestone deposits, dating back around 40 million years, are encased by a harder layer, with erosion shaping them into striking natural sculptures and symmetrical patterns, showcasing the area’s geological richness.
