Khazaen Economic City has signed a $519.49 million (RO 200 million) investment agreement to develop an integrated Chinese industrial complex spanning over 160,000 square metres. The project, backed by Muscat Changming Investments, strengthens Khazaen’s position as a premier investment destination in Oman and the wider region.
The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony attended by Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, alongside key dignitaries, investors, and media representatives. The signatories included Eng. Salim bin Sulaiman al Dhuhli, CEO of Khazaen Economic City, and Dr. Mingliang Li, Vice-Chairman of Muscat Changming Investments.
Construction is set to begin in the second quarter of this year. The complex will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including workshops and production lines catering to light and medium industries. It will also house packaging areas, logistical warehouses serving as regional storage and distribution hubs, office spaces, administrative buildings, and showrooms to enhance commercial and investment activities.
In addition, the development will include an automotive repair centre offering maintenance services and spare parts, an advanced car showroom with specialized lighting, a driving simulation area, and a dedicated space for new car launches. A range of complementary services and facilities will also be available.
This initiative aligns with Khazaen Economic City’s broader strategy to create a world-class business hub, attracting local and international investment in logistics, manufacturing, food and pharmaceuticals, clean energy, and technology. Strategically located along the Al Batinah Expressway and equipped with advanced infrastructure such as the Khazaen Dry Port, the city benefits from its proximity to Muscat International Airport and key Omani seaports, including SOHAR Port.
“We are committed to fostering a competitive investment environment that supports Oman’s economic diversification,” said Eng. Salim bin Sulaiman al Dhuhli. “This project marks a major milestone in positioning Khazaen as an integrated industrial and logistics hub, generating direct and indirect employment, supporting SMEs, and driving industrial and technological innovation in Oman.”
