Dialogue (ACD) summit, Qatari Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammad bin Hamad emphasized Doha’s commitment to enhancing economic integration among Asian countries. Qatar, a founding member of the ACD, which includes 35 nations and over half the world’s population, sees significant potential in boosting regional cooperation.
Sheikh Mohammad noted that inter-Asian trade accounted for 57% of global trade in 2022, up from 54% in 2000. He also highlighted Qatar’s progress under the “Qatar National Vision 2030,” particularly in infrastructure development, which has propelled the country to 11th place globally in comprehensive competitiveness. Qatar has launched several initiatives to attract foreign investment and skilled professionals in sectors like technology, health, commerce, and finance.
At the same event, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem, head of the Qatari Chamber of Commerce, praised the country’s promising future in artificial intelligence (AI), noting Qatar’s efforts to become a leader in this field. He emphasized that the forum provides a platform to discuss AI’s opportunities and challenges in business. ACD Secretary General Nasser Al-Mutairi echoed this optimism, highlighting Asia’s AI potential, with the region home to 60% of the global population. Saud Al-Manea, head of the Qatari league of business personnel, emphasized the importance of leveraging AI in the economic sector.
